Lola Belle Designs began in 2016 with hand lettering.

At the time, I was playing around with illustration too, creating hand-lettered pieces, illustrations, art prints, and wood signs. I sold my work at a few local markets and online, where prints and stickers found their way into the hands of people who loved them as much as I loved making them.

Then life got busy. I took a step back from my business to focus on my family.

A few years later, during a season that required a lot of sitting, resting, and recovering, I started drawing again. Somewhere along the way, I stumbled upon surface pattern design — and it felt like I had discovered a little bit of magic.

I've always loved to draw, but creating an entire scene or telling a whole story in one illustration could feel overwhelming. Then I discovered that I could draw a handful of flowers, berries, leaves, or little bits of everyday inspiration and turn them into a seamless repeating pattern.

That was it. I was hooked.

I've always been drawn to beautiful patterns on fabric, stationery, and everyday things, and realizing I could create those patterns myself opened up an entirely new world for me.
